Arranged Marriages: Are they for YOU?! PART 1

As promised to a close friend of mine I will be blogging about my thoughts on arranged marriages. I want to start off by telling you the dictionary meaning of arranged marriage, "An arranged marriage is a marriage where the marital partners are chosen by others based on considerations other than the pre-existing mutual attraction of the partners." In punjabi terms its when a friend of both the groom's family and the bride's family introduce each others family. This "friend" is called a Vichola. (I hope I spelt that right!) Well anyways being a first generation Canadian born child my parents had an arranged marriage back in India. 99% of all parents that came to the western world from India had arranged marriage. And now there is an increased rate of kids that were born in Canada or USA that are going back to their homeland to get arranged marriage. However, the process of arranged marriage has changed since our parents got married. Back in the day of our parents getting married since the distance of the two people getting married was quite far you prolly saw the person you were going to marry maybe 3 times in a span of 4 months. There wasn't much communication between the two that were getting married. It was usually if your parents believed that your new in-laws family was good then you had to obey your parents and marry the individual they told you to marry. The arranged marriage process is not just happening in India it has spread over to the western world. Thousands of parents that had arranged marriages in India are bringing this tradition to the western world. Meaning that all across Canada and America parents are introducing their sons and daughters to other people from either Canada, America, England, etc. So this doesn't mean that your going to marry a (FOB) lol. Some kids just because they dont have the time to find a suitable husband or wife leave it up to their parents to find someone for them. In some cases arranged marriages can be a great success if done right. This is only part one of my take on arrange marriages. Part two of arranged marriages will be discussing those far to fast arranged marriages that take place in India. Hope you had fun reading this! Please feel free to comment and dont be shy lol (you know who I'm talking about :P)

My thoughts on the Wellness Institute

Wow.....It's been nearly 3 weeks since I wrote anything on my blog.....sorry guys ive been just crazy busy with so many different things coming up plus with 5 uni courses it can get a bit challenging to keep up with something like this.....anyways I had a very interesting experience yesterday that I wish to share with you all.....My best friend has recently decided that she would like to join the gym that I've been at for approximately 3 years after much fighting with her she finally gave in and my sister's best friend is also joining the same gym.........so we all decided that we would go yesterday to get them registered and then work out.....Both of them were not sure if they could pay by cash on a monthly basis..... and so being the nice person that I am I told them I would call and find out what the method of payment was.....(and if your wondering how is it that I don't know whether u can pay by cash or not is because my dad pays for me....lol) so anyways I call the gym and inquire about what they would have to pay if they came in and registered today......the women informed me that there is a enrollment fee of 89.00 which is standard plus they would have to pay for the month of march....now for someone who is a new member they have to pay close to 50.00 a month......I then asked the woman whether if joining today (since there only 5 days left in march) if a person joining would have to pay for the month of march......she replied by saying that unfortunately yes they would but it wasn't even a somewhat reasonable price that they had to pay for the duration of march they would have to pay 38.00 for 5 days...... when she said this i was totally blown away......how is that fair to pay this much for less than a week of working out........she then explained that this is how it is........I than thanked her for time and patience and hung up the phone......and immediately phoned my best friend back and explained to her what the girl had told me......and told her she's better off joining on april.1st so she doesn't have to pay for these 5 days......which is the only smart thing to do and if the Wellness people think that someone is going to pay 38.00 for 5 days then they better get their heads checked.

Joke of the Day

A stranger was seated next to little Tommy on the plane when the
strager turned to the boy and said, "Let's talk. I've heard that
flights will go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your
fellow passenger."

Little Tommy, who had just opened his book, closed it slowly,
and said to the stranger, "What would you like to discuss?"
"Oh, I don't know," said the stranger. "How about nuclear power?"
"Okay," said little Tommy. "That would be an interesting topic.

But, let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat grass: The same stuff.
Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clump of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?"
"Jeez," said the stranger. "I have no idea."

"Well, then," said little Tommy, "How is it that you feel qualified to discuss nuclear power
when you don't know SHIT?"
